Ken Waldman and Willi Carlisle FOLK
Saturday, February 12, 2022 - 7:30 p.m.

From Arizona to the Real Alaska: Ken Waldman and Willi Carlisle combine oldtime string band music, original poetry, smart songwriting and down home storytelling for an unforgettable evening that's a prelude to Super Bowl Sunday, Valentine's Day, and our post-pandemic future! They promise an upbeat and inspiring set, from raucous twin fiddles to lovely original waltzes to fiddle and banjo hoedowns. The show is also a soundtrack to a journey from Arizona to the Real Alaska of Waldman, with a detour through Arkansas and The Ozarks as Carlisle knows them. Waldman has played from the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage to Australia's Woodford Folk Festival as a soloist and as leader of one of his troupes of nationally recognized musicians. Carlisle has a style forged in the fire of Ozark oldtime music and his growing collection of antique music, banjo tricks, rhythm bones, crankies and bad jokes. While Waldman has come through the Phoenix area over the years--though it's his first since 2017--this will be Carlisle's first local show. Join us for a night of high spirits and evocative Americana! Bring your sweetheart—the waltzes will be for you!
