SUMMARY:Irma Herrera - "Why Would I Mispronounce My Own Name?"
DESCRIPTION:Irma Herrera’s solo performance piece “Why Would I Mispronounce My OwnName?” weaves history and comedic insights into stories about names and sheds lightand throws shade on our prejudices and assumptions. Irma asks us: how open are we to seeingpeople who aren’t white as equals? How welcoming are we of others who are differentfrom us? \n\n\n\nHerrera’s five-month run of the show at The Marsh in San Francisco\, a major home fordeveloping theater works\, played to sold-out houses and garnered glowing reviews from criticsand everyday folks. Her post-show talkbacks tackle a range of topics including the school toprison pipeline\, the rights of transgender people\, immigration policy and more. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n“Put @irmadherrera’s theater piece\, Why Would I Mispronounce My Own Name? on your to-do list . . . Personal and deeply thought-provoking on issues of identity important for us to think about today.”-Marsha Cohen\, Professor\, UC Law San Francisco \n\n\n\n“At a time when civil rights and many communities are under siege\, Irma Herrera provides sharp insights into the history and politics that drive these attacks.  She sees the humor and irony in the battles to save lives\, democracy\, and to promote justice. You don’t want to miss her show!” \n\n\n\n-Bill Tamayo\, Civil Rights Attorney\, San Francisco

SUMMARY:James & Jimmy - Fire & Rain & Margaritas
DESCRIPTION:For over 15 years The James Taylor Experience (JTE) tribute show has been recreating the look\, feel and sound of a James Taylor concert for James Taylor fans around the world. That world was saddened by the recent loss of Jimmy Buffett. Buffett and Taylor were good friends who performed together often over the years and sang each others songs in various recordings. They are two of the most beloved and prolific singer-songwriters the world has ever produced. Fire & Rain\, You’ve Got a Friend and Carolina in My Mind are just a few of Taylors’s many hits\, and Buffett’s Margaritaville and Son of a Son of a Sailor are examples of the timeless tunes that each tell a story straight from Jimmy Buffet’s adventurous life. \n\n\n\nJames Taylor paid tribute to Jimmy Buffett in several of his shows after his passing\, and we feel the same desire to celebrate this awesome artist in our show\, bringing the James Taylor Experience together with special tribute to the life and music of Jimmy Buffet in this two-act concert performance.
