South African International recording artist Moabi Kotu was born in the Northwest of South Africa, Mahikeng, but grew up in Soweto and is currently based in Phoenix, Arizona.
He believes in Ubuntu, collaborating to resolve all issues affecting humanity. His music is rooted in African traditional music, fused with Jazz, Afrobeat, Funk, Soul, Reggae, Gospel and different sounds from across the globe.
As music and time evolves Moabi has also embraced the new age of South African dance music called Amapiano, developed in the townships with heavy log drum and catchy bass lines. Since this style originates from his backyard, Moabi has occupied the space to spin some of the hottest jams and push the Amapiano culture in the USA both as a performer and deejay.
Fans of Bob Marley, Hugh Masekela, Black Mambazo, Angelique Kidjo, Robert Glasper, Mirriam Makeba, Fela Kuti and Salif Keita go wild at Moabi’s shows!
