Blending jazz, classical and the folk traditions of his native Spain, guitarist and composer Oscar Peñas has carved out a signature voice in modern jazz. Born in Barcelona and now based in Brooklyn, he crafts deeply personal, story-driven compositions that reflect his multicultural background and passion for innovation. A Berklee and New England Conservatory graduate, Penas has led acclaimed ensembles and collaborated with legends like Ron Carter, Esperanza Spalding and Paquito D’Rivera. His upcoming suite “Remote Hoods,” commissioned by the New York State Council on the Arts, celebrates the diversity of New York City. With performances at top venues and a growing discography, Penas continues to push creative boundaries.

This is Oscar’s second appearance at ASU Kerr, he wowed his Arizona audience and we had to have him back!
