Right in the Eye is a multimedia performance created by Jean-François Alcoléa featuring 12 films by Georges Méliès, the pioneering filmmaker and early master of cinematic special effects.
Performed live, three musicians play more than 50 instruments, including several rare and unusual selections, creating an original musical accompaniment to Méliès’ classic films.
Blending live music and cinema in an intimate setting, the production celebrates the filmmaker’s imagination, artistry and innovation. Right in the Eye offers a fresh perspective on some of the earliest masterpieces of motion-picture history.
“It is at once inventive, elegant and moving … right to the core.”

“He would have loved it!”
Méliès’ great-granddaughter
“We are living in the movie world created by Georges Méliès more than a century ago, smug in the illusion that we are experiencing the very last thing.”
